Auricular keloid following (micro) trauma of the skin and cartilage can have a tremendous negative impact on quality of life. Despite various treatment modalities, recurrence is common. Based on a publication of Bran et. al we developed a treatment protocol for patients with recalcitrant auricular keloid. It involves the sequential combination of 1. intramarginal resection, 2. five sessions of intralesional steroid injection and 3. pressure therapy with a custom made acrylate pressure device. Presently we have treated 8 patients. So far, no recurrence of keloid is seen but we will continue to monitor the effect of our protocol and report findings in the near future.
